Career in Motion, From Logistics to Section Manager

Please introduce yourself.

I’m a father to my daughter and husband to my wife 😊 I have 20 years of job experience with half of it spent on management positions. In the past, I’ve been working mainly in the automotive and pharmaceutical industries. I joined MDLZ in 2020 as a Logistics Manager and after 1.5 years, I became the Section Manager.

Why did you decide to join MDLZ?

I remember well joining MDLZ in June 2020 because it was a big change for me after almost 15 years in my previous company. I was also when Covid-19 happened where it triggered new challenges for businesses across industries. At that time when I have been thinking about the future which was quite unknown, I thought that because of the pandemic, people would buy less cars as were all forced to stay at home – rather, we’re just enjoying snacks and a bar of chocolate!

MDLZ and the brands were well known for me, hence the decision to work for this big and growing company. Finally, chocolate is a magic that keeps people smiling! 😊

What personal qualities or skills made you successful in your position?

In my opinion, there are several crucial skills in the manufacturing sector. I can categorize these into five main groups:

1. Leadership skills and behaviors
2. Results orientation
3. Effective communication and constructive feedback
4. Emotional intelligence
5. Feedforward

MDLZ provides great tools and an environment to learn all these skills, but it is ultimately up to us to stay motivated and make use of them.

How has your career developed at MDLZ?

I have made a significant journey from Logistics Manager to Section Manager at MDLZ. When I began as Logistics Manager, I brought extensive experience, which allowed me to familiarize myself with the organization and its internal procedures and standards.

Transitioning to the role of Section Manager represented a substantial step forward in my professional development. I gained insights into production processes and the IL6S tools. Serving as the Autonomous Pillar Lead has been an ideal opportunity to enhance my manufacturing strategy skills while actively engaging with operators.

Once I assumed the role of Section Manager, we initiated our automation agenda. This presents a great opportunity for project management and allows me to emphasize the crucial human factor in our operations.

Why do you continue to choose MDLZ?

MDLZ is an excellent company for development, and I truly appreciate it. I’m a prime example of this: I joined the plant as a Logistics Manager, and after 1.5 years, I transitioned to the role of Section Manager. The plant offers numerous opportunities across various levels and departments.

Additionally, in Poland alone, we have six other production plants, an R&D Center, business offices, and many more facilities worldwide. All of this creates a vast array of development opportunities.
