Describe your career & development at Mondelēz. What is it that encourages you to stay at Mondelēz?

After finishing my degree, I started working for Mondelēz in 2011 as an on-call casual confectioner with the intention of working for a couple of months only and here I am after 13 years, hoping to work for Mondelēz until I retire. I can’t be grateful enough for the opportunities I have been given to grow in both personal & professional capacities. Over the years I have been promoted through several roles at the site, including site lead since 2023. I love Mondelēz’s values, the brands, the people and most importantly I feel cared for which makes me feel like the owner of the business & encourages me to stay at Mondelēz and look forward to coming to work every day.

What have been some of the highlight/s for you at Mondelēz?

Being able to grow from the grass root level has enabled me to understand the real meaning of servant leadership which has always been the key highlight of my journey. Career in MSC is always full of excitement, so there are many highlights but if I have to pick one that would be the recent EBA, where we were able to sign the confectioners’ EBA in the very first meeting, it is like a unicorn in the manufacturing industry, however quite possible when we successfully build a culture of 1 team, 1 vision & 1 goal...

How would you describe the culture at Mondelēz?

Mondelēz’s strength is it’s open and diverse culture which is not afraid of accepting a change or trying something new or thinking out of the box and our agility in investing in our people is truly inspiring! The care factor and as we say in Scoresby “1 for all & all for 1” makes it very unique and a great place to work. Recently, in an activity at school where kids had to write about their dream professions when they grow up, many kids wrote about their dream of becoming a doctor, scientist or a super hero, my kids who are still in primary school said they want to work for Mondelēz which made me very proud of the place I work for and the impact it has on the people.

What do you enjoy most about the work you do at Mondelēz?

Dealing with unexpected challenges and coming together as a team to work on beneficial outcomes is the most enjoyable part of our MSC world. We thrive for success but at the same time willing to try new things and take calculated risks is amazing. Working on strategies and initiatives to deliver and support business’s vision and the future makes it very rewarding. Investing in people and seeing them grow is what I enjoy the most.

What advice do you have for someone considering an opportunity with Mondelēz?

There hasn’t been a day at Mondelēz where I haven’t learnt something new or improved myself. So, Salman who walks in through the door at work walks out as a better version of himself each day. One advice, I would have for someone new would be don’t be afraid to dream big and keep trying until you achieve success. And it is OK to not be a master of everything, don’t be shy of reaching out for help, there is a great network of very talented and helpful people around you. There are endless learning and growth opportunities in Mondelēz, make the most of it but remember “don’t wish for it, work for it”. I always tell my team, If I can do it, they certainly can do even better.
