Cocoa Life sourced cocoa by 2025

Monday, September 09, 2019

At Mondelēz International, we love creating chocolate and we love our planet. That’s why we created Cocoa Life to sustainably source the cocoa we use in our chocolate, ensuring our ingredients are made the right way - for people and our planet.

Cocoa Life addresses the complex challenges cocoa farmers face, including climate change, gender inequality, poverty and child labor. This program works hand-in-hand with the men and women who make their living from cocoa. We are focusing our efforts on three areas where we can make the most difference: turning cocoa into a business of choice, creating inclusive and empowered communities that take on their own development and educating on forest conservation and restoration.

Working together, we are continuously growing opportunities for cocoa farmers and their families, conserving our natural resources and making our chocolate the right way for everyone to enjoy.

By 2025, all of our chocolate brands will proudly source their sustainable cocoa through Cocoa Life. This partnership is the key to lasting change and together, we will grow opportunities.

“Our Purpose at Mondelēz International is to empower people to snack right and that journey begins with the ingredients we source, including cocoa,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dirk Van de Put. “As demand for chocolate continues to grow, we are leading the transformation to build a thriving cocoa sector, an ingredient essential to our growth. This is an important milestone for our Cocoa Life program and will ensure more consumers around the world can be confident that the chocolate brands they love are made the right way.”
