The countdown to International Women's Day has begun!

Recognized annually on March 8, International Women's Day celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women globally. While women's contributions should be celebrated all year round, the day also marks an intentional call to action for accelerating women's equality.

This year's theme is Embracing Equity, and it aims to get the world talking about why "equal opportunities are no longer enough." While a focus on gender equity should be part of every society's DNA, it's also critical to understand the difference between equity and equality.

Equality means each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities. Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances, and allocates the resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome.

THE UNRAVELING EQUITY PODCAST

To celebrate International Women's Day, we've launched THE UNRAVELING EQUITY PODCAST, hosted by MDLZ's TJ Randolph. In this three-part series, MDLZ and external leaders will unpack the different facets of 'Equity' at the workplace.

Our first 'Understanding Equity' episode features Paulette Alviti, Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer of Mondelēz International.

Listen in as Paulette explores why International Women's Day (IWD) remains important, even in the more western world; how Equity is undeniably linked to Diversity and Inclusion, and why MDLZ decided to put the concept of Equity front and (literally in the) center of our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy.
