Parental Leave
Celebrating Family at Mondelēz International
We are committed to creating and sustaining a workplace where differences are valued, and colleagues feel empowered to bring their true selves to work every day.
We look out for one another, especially during times of change, such as the arrival of a brand-new family member. That’s why we raised the bar for our own MDLZ family by increasing the support we offer colleagues on their journey to achieve their personal and professional ambitions as a parent.
In 2019, we implemented a contemporary parental leave program with globally consistent minimum standards, to give all parents time to bond with their new child or children – time that allows them to adjust and thrive in their new family situation. With this implementation, we put in place minimum standards of parental support and benefits wherever colleagues are in the world – whether they’re a mother, father, or adoptive or foster parent of a child.
Eligibility, application and timing of these standards will vary in each country depending on local legislation, benefits practices and union contracts. In many countries, we exceed this minimum. For example, in the U.S. new parents – primary and secondary caregivers – receive 10 weeks of paid parental bonding leave, in addition to the short-team leave that birth mothers receive while recovering from the physical impact of childbirth.
In addition to enabling flexibility through our global Flexible Working Pledge, we also have wellness/mother’s rooms in many of our facilities to serve as lactation facilities for mothers who are back at work. Childcare support takes many different forms across various countries, including onsite daycare in manufacturing facilities, financial contributions, discounts and/or reimbursements.
