NIGHTINGALE HOUSE HOSPICE RECEIVES £5,000 FROM THE CADBURY FOUNDATION
Wrexham-based charity, Nightingale House Hospice, has been chosen by local employees at Mondelēz International to receive a donation of £5,000
Thursday, December 22, 2022
The local charity, which is dedicated to supporting those who are living with a diagnosis of a life-limiting illness, has been granted the large sum from The Cadbury Foundation, as part of its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ initiative.
Every year, all Mondelēz International UK employees are invited to nominate wellbeing-related charities or projects close to their hearts to receive the large donation, with the final shortlisted charities up for vote amongst fellow colleagues.
Nightingale House Hospice is one of 12 charities from across the UK to receive a substantial donation. The hospice specialises in providing excellent, personalised and compassionate care for those living with a progressive or life-limiting illness in the local community, as well as much-needed support for their families and loved ones.
The £5,000 donation will enable the charity to continue supporting the local community in need of its services across Wrexham, Flintshire, East Denbighshire and Barmouth, as well as bordering towns Oswestry and Whitchurch, and continue improving both the quality of life for those needing care, as well as rehabilitation following treatment.
Laura Parry, head of income generation at Nightingale House Hospice, said: “We are extremely grateful of this generous support from The Cadbury Foundation. The funds will make a huge difference in supporting the rehabilitation of patients following treatment and those coping with the symptoms of a life limiting illness.
“It will enable these patients to enjoy a better quality of life during their illness. This contribution has made a difference at what has been a very challenging time for the hospice and the national community, and for that we cannot thank The Cadbury Foundation and the local employees at Mondelēz International for their support enough.”
The Cadbury Foundation was set up in 1935 in recognition of Richard and George Cadbury and their investment in the welfare of their employees and the local community. Across all Mondelēz International UK sites, £65,000 has been donated to charities, projects and clubs across the country as part its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.
Bethan Williams, brand executive at the Mondelēz International Chirk site, nominated the charity to receive the donation. Bethan added: “Nightingale House Hospice provides vital support to those in need and this donation is a fantastic contribution to help the charity and its team continue their incredible work.”
Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelēz International, added: “We’re extremely proud to be able to support the charities that are important to our employees through our ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ initiative each year.
“We’re delighted to know that with The Cadbury Foundation’s donation, Nightingale House Hospice will be able to continue providing vital care to the Chirk community.”
