CREDITON CIC RECEIVES £5,000 DONATION FROM THE CADBURY FOUNDATION
Devon-based Community Interest Company, The Turning Tides Project, has been chosen by local employees at Mondelēz International to receive a donation of £5,000
Thursday, December 22, 2022
The project, which is dedicated to making sure local people with ‘learning disability’ or ‘autism’ labels have the right to equal access to music, the arts and life, has been granted the substantial figure from The Cadbury Foundation, as part of its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ initiative.
Every year, all Mondelēz International UK employees are invited to nominate wellbeing-related charities or projects close to their hearts to receive a large donation, with the final shortlisted charities up for vote amongst fellow colleagues.
The Turning Tides Project was one of 12 chosen charities from across the UK to receive a large sum as part of the ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme. Committed to improving the lives of people living with a range of people with ‘learning disability’ and ‘autism’ labels, through a range of services, the not-for-profit helps individuals gain confidence and improve their skillset, whether professional or personal.
The Project, using a Social Model approach, seeks to promote an inclusive environment and challenge stereotypes associated with Disabled People. The Project delivers essential and unique work to many people within Crediton and beyond.
The company strives to make equal access to music, the arts and life a reality for people with 'learning disability' or 'autism' labels. Throughout the week, individuals can take part in a range of sessions from music to sport, no matter their age, gender, disability label or background. The donation will help them offer a wider range of sessions, as well as specialist training and equipment, improving the quality of individual learning and experience.
Jane Williams at The Turning Tides Project commented: “We’re thrilled to have received this generous donation from The Cadbury Foundation, especially because we were nominated and voted for by employees that are part of our local community.
“The funding will enable us to continue our work to create an inclusive, outdoor community venue in Crediton. More importantly, the donation is a big vote of support of our aim to make equal access to the life of our community a reality for people with ‘learning disability’ or ‘autism’ labels – and that is priceless.”
The Cadbury Foundation was set up in 1935 in recognition of Richard and George Cadbury and their investment in the welfare of their employees and the local community. Across all Mondelēz International UK sites, £65,000 has been donated to charities, projects and clubs across the country as part its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.
Rebecca Warren, Commercial Finance Manager at Mondelēz International Crediton Factory added, “Turning Tides is a local charity close to our employees’ hearts. Having a factory based in Crediton we are particularly keen to support organisations in the area.
We’re thrilled that with the donation, Turning Tides will be able to carry out its extremely important work supporting people within the community”.
Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelēz International, added: “We’re extremely proud to be able to support the charities that are important to our employees through our ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ initiative each year.
“We’re delighted to know that with The Cadbury Foundation’s donation, The Turning Tides Project will be able to continue carrying out their meaningful work, changing lives for many people in the local community.”
