SHEFFIELD RESCUE CHARITY RECEIVES £5,000 DONATION FROM THE CADBURY FOUNDATION

Voluntary search and rescue team based in South Yorkshire, Woodhead Mountain Rescue, has been chosen by employees at Mondelēz International to receive a donation of £5,000

Wednesday, December 21, 2022

The local charity which provides emergency help and assistance to incidents on mountains and hills across the region, has been granted the substantial donation from The Cadbury Foundation, as part of its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.

Every year, all Mondelēz International UK employees are invited to nominate wellbeing-related charities or projects close to their hearts to receive a large donation, with the final shortlisted charities up for vote amongst fellow colleagues.

Woodhead Mountain Rescue was one of 12 charities from across the UK to receive the donation. The team provide emergency help and assistance to a range of incidents on mountains and hills across the Peak District and South Yorkshire, and volunteers are often called upon to utilise a range of skills in a wide variety of different settings.

The donation enabled the charity to buy 17 specialised coats for the volunteer team, which helped them keep warm in a range of harsh weather conditions, which proved vital when assisting people in need on mountains and hillsides.

Katy Greatbach, Section Manager at the Sheffield Mondelēz International site, nominated the charity to receive the grant. Katy said: “My Mum volunteers for the Woodhead Mountain Rescue and helps with navigation and training their rescue dogs. This large donation will help the team provide the best equipment whilst providing an essential service to the local community.”

Andy Bassinder, Social Media and Press Officer at Woodhead Mountain Rescue, said: “We’re delighted to have been chosen to receive this donation, which will help us provide specialist training to the team, as well as vital equipment needed for rescue operations in remote areas. With the grant, we’ll be able to support people across a wider range of situations on the hills.”

The Cadbury Foundation was set up in 1935 in recognition of Richard and George Cadbury and their investment in the welfare of their employees and the local community. Across all Mondelēz International UK sites, £65,000 has been donated to charities, projects and clubs across the country as part its ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ scheme.

Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelēz International, commented: “We’re extremely proud to be able to support the charities that are important to our employees through our ‘Your Charity Your Choice’ initiative each year.

“We’re delighted to know that with The Cadbury Foundation’s support, the charity will be able to continue providing emergency help and assistance to incidents on mountains and hills across the region.”

“We’re delighted to know that with The Cadbury Foundation’s donation, BIBS will be able to support even more babies and their families and continue doing their life-saving and incredible work.”
